breastfeeding love

You may remember I told you LE and I were going to have a breastfeeding photo shoot.  Well the little stinker was too busy to cooperate at first, but luckily we had dinner with the photographer and had a second chance when after dinner LE started to sign for milk.  Here are my two favorites:

Did you know the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends at least 1 year of breastfeeding and the World Health Organization recommends 2 years? I know it makes some people uncomfortable, but I have no intention of rushing mother nature.

belly buttons

Guess what LE's favorite body part is right now?

Out on our walk this evening I noticed she was pulling up her shirt and leaning over to find her belly button (she has such a big little belly that she has to really make an effort to find it tucked away in her rolls...aw baby love!).

"Oh mommy, I'm so embarrassed."

Silly girl!

FYI - lack of posts due to a lack of sleep due to those nasty molars popping through! I keep pep talking myself up that nights have to someday get easier, right?!

this falls hottest fashion item

According to LE, that is. It's so simple, you're going to wonder "Why didn't I think of that!".

Dirty laundry, especially underwear, fashioned as a scarf. Take a look for yourself.

She's a little shy about her brilliance.

celebrating wbw

This week is World Breastfeeding Week and it's been an eventful weekend for me and my little breastfeeding champ. First, we had breastfeeding pics with Mae Burke - One of the few breastfeeding photographers in the world. We had our shoot with Joanna (my partner for Holistic Mothering) and her cutie pie, Vivian. Here they are getting their nurse on:

Sarah is in town for the week. She's probably regretting coming for WBW... Here the three of us are at the Great Nurse In on the Capitol lawn. LE and I took part in the nationwide latch on!

A little playtime after all that milk - Having a blast with Miss Nancy's hat.

"Where is LE?"

"Here I am, mama!"

Stay tuned for our awesome pics!

when it's hot enough to fry an egg...

-Add ice cubes to water play.

-Go to free Splash Parks (pools, fountains, lakes, etc).

-Strip down to diaper and play in the rain (LE was smiling for a good hour after this one!).

-Go to the mall, preferably one with a kids play area.

-Get your craft on. I picked up colored pencils, crayons, glue sticks, finger paints, feathers, and pipe cleaners for $12 at AC Moore.

LE colors for about 3 seconds before the desire to taste her crayon kicks in. She's starting to catch on and will at least take a quick break from her waxy snack to do a quick scribble when I say "Color, LE, color!". It's the little things...
